We love fashion, especially when it’s for a purpose! We’re passionate about supporting our community, especially nonprofits whose purpose it is to help women and children.
On Saturday, April 13, Lucinda’s, along with the Finishing School for Modern Women and Charisma – Inner Beauty, arranged a fun evening to celebrate mothers and daughters, raising $1,505 for Laughing Feet Performers through admission and raffle ticket sales for prizes from local businesses. After the show, we hosted a festive after party at Lucinda’s, donating 20 percent of sales that evening to our cause.
Laughing Feet Performers connects performers with special needs, aged 10 to 25, with typical peers to study musical and artistic expression, giving performance opportunities to people who normally wouldn’t have them. One of the highlights of the event was a performance by Ashely of Happy Feet, who sang “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten to an enthusiastic audience. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
The event, held at Harvester Arts, featured fabulous spring fashions and jewelry, crowned by gorgeous hairstyles and makeup by Charisma – Inner Beauty. We recruited mother and daughter teams to walk down the runway together, showing off their new looks, while Jill D. Miller, the Headmistress of the Finishing School for Modern Women shared stories with the audience of our family’s adventures together.
A big thank you to our other sponsors, the Finishing School for Modern Women, Charisma – Inner Beauty and Harvester Arts. Three cheers for our models, who worked the catwalk with attitude and style. We appreciate the local businesses that donated raffle prized for the event: Hatman Jack’s, Charisma Inner Beauty, Spice Merchant, Planet Hair, and Skin Essentials.
Of course, we couldn’t have done it without the hard work of our staff. Special kudos to our Shannon, the director of our show, whose organization and leadership skills kept everything running perfectly.
Finally, thanks to everyone who came out and supported our event. We can’t wait to do it again next year!
